Pat and I have been pretty bored since Christmas. So we have started trying to complete some projects around the house that have been long overdo.

The one we've been working on for the past 2 days is going through all of our old pictures that have been stuffed into boxes and picking out the good pictures and throwing away doubles and stuff. We are organizing them all chronologically and putting them in photo albums. We've already filled 2 full albums of 500 pictures each. Pat's mom will be so proud! She's been telling me I need to do this for awhile! :) We have sooo many pictures from the wedding and our honeymoon that we are probably going to have to make 2 albums just for that. It's taking forever because we're writing the names of the people in the picture on the back, where and when it was. But it will be worth it not to have all the pictures just thrown in boxes anymore.

In Houston news, the weather has changed..again. Yesterday it was warm..today it's in the 40s. Pat just made a fire and of course I had to roast a marshmallow for a s'more! Probably the best dessert ever invented.

Well that's all for now... pretty boring here in Houston right now...

Today I had a doctors appointment. I got the results of my 3-hour glucose test... everything is fine. No diabetes for me! They also did some other bloodwork last time to make sure I wasn't anemic or anything because I had been so tired, but that all came back fine too. My belly is measuring right on schedule. I did gain a couple extra pounds :( but come on now... I got weighed the day after Christmas! Hopefully it will even out at the next appointment! I mean at least I'm still measuring on schedule so what's a couple pounds right??? She said everything is going great. All good news here...

This evening we went to see pretty much the saddest movie ever made.... "Marley and Me." I won't say anything else so I won't spoil it for anyone that wants to see it...but don't see it unless you're in the mood for a good cry!!

Christmas Day!!

I slept horrible last night. The baby kept me awake kicking me all night. And besides that I couldn't get comfortable. It seems like it takes more energy to turn over than it does to just lay there awake. That's probably the most workout I'm getting these days..

Well anyways.. we woke up and got dressed for Church. We were going to go to a new church in the area, we got there will plenty of time, but when we drove up the parking lot was totally empty. There was no Christmas service..weird! Then every church we drove by it seemed like was closed also. We went to the one in Humble we had gone to in the past, but we were trying to find a new one because we can't understand a word the priest says. Anyways, we were only like 10 minutes late so we thought we'd have to stand, but there was still plenty of room to sit. I guess people really don't go to church anymore on Christmas day.

On our way home Pat was starving and the only thing open was Sonic. Sadly enough we ate Sonic for lunch of Christmas day... After we ate we laid down to watch some tv, and I ended up falling asleep for like 2 1/2 hours. It was a great nap. I guess I was making up for the sleep I didn't get last night. Then we got up and went to Pat's parent's house to have Christmas dinner with them. It was nice to be with some of our family.

When we came home we finished setting up the nursery for now. We don't have anything on the walls yet, but we have all the bedding in. I'm attaching some pictures.

12/24/08

Today is Christmas Eve. We're still stuck here in Houston on my "no travel" restriction. I've been kind of sad all day that I can't be at home with my family like we always are, but I got to spend the day with Pat, which is always nice. We had a nice dinner and opened our gifts tonight. Dinner wasn't as great as it would have been at my mom's house, but I made us cheese fondue for an appetizer, some parmesan crusted chicken with potatoes for dinner, and chocolate fondue for dessert. My doctor will probably say I gained too much weight these past 2 weeks... oh well. It's not fair that my appointment is the day after Christmas!

Pat gave me a beautiful ring for Christmas that I love. It's 3 silver rings that are interlocking. One of them is engraved with his name, one with mine, and one with Collin's name. I think Stoli liked her Christmas gift too... she got a stuffed beaver to play with and some delicious doggy treats in her stocking.

In baby news..
We are finally getting around to putting together the nursery. The furniture is in there, but we haven't put the linens or anything on the bed. We finally washed the the new linens we got for the twin bed in there, and went to buy the crib bedding. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day we'll actually get it all put up, and I'll post some pictures of how the nursery is coming along. Collin also got tons of Christmas gifts already. What a lucky baby he's going to be. I even got a gift from him for Christmas! Pat was nice enough to wrap it for him ;) He gave me a cute "Build-A-Bear" 3D cake pan. I'm gonna have to perfect them before he actually makes his appearance for a cake of his own. From my dad, we got a really cool jogging stroller. I can't wait to use it! My mom sent us some neat sports accessories for the nursery AND these are totally awesome... some rock CD's that are made into lullabys. Haha... My favorite is U2. She also sent the Beatles and the Beach Boys. Pat and I were listening to the U2 one in the car yesterday. We thought it was so funny that the first track to a lullaby CD is "Sunday Bloody Sunday." Now we just need to get Collin a sweet black leather jacket like Bono...

12/22//08

This morning I had to wake up early and go get my 3-hour glucose tolerance test.  First off.. I knew the morning started off bad because I had forgotten to go pick up my lab orders from my doctors office last week.  My appointment was for 8am this morning, but my dr's office didnt open until 9am so I was afraid I was going to have to wait until 9 to start my test, which basically just annoyed me because I knew I'd have to waiting ANOTHER hour before I could eat/drink anything.
Well I was hoping they could just start the test early and take my word for it and go pick up the orders after I started the 3 hour process, but the lady told me they couldn't start until they had the paperwork.  Ugh!  The lady told me to go knock on my doctor's office door because there is usually someone at the front desk early.  Luckily there was someone.  She gave me the paperwork and I only started like 15 minutes late.
So first, they have to start off by taking your blood once to get your "fasting" blood sugar.  Then you have to chug down this sugary orange drink that tastes horrible.  Kind of like when you drink something too sweet and it feels like it stays in your throat...that's what it was like.  Then they have to take your blood exactly an hour after you finish the drink.  Then again another hour later, and then one more time again another hour after that.  It wouldn't be so bad except they take it out of the same place on your arm.  They did it twice on each of my arms so I have some bruises in the bend of my arm where they take blood.  Good thing shots and giving blood don't bother me.  It wasn't horrible..but it sure didn't feel good.
The other good thing is that I was fully prepared to camp out for over 3 hours in the lab.  I took an audio book and the blanket I'm cross-stitching for the baby.  My wonderful husband also went with me to keep me company.  Why is it that people feel the need to start conversations with you when you're obviously busy?  I mean.. I know people like to make small talk..but I'm sitting there sewing with my headphones ON, and people still want to come up and talk over your music until you take off your headphones.  I shouldn't complain... I know... it's nice... but I'm obviously listening to something right???

Other than having to go do that this morning, it was a great day because Pat's mom came over and helped us organize the entire upstairs of the house.  We had my art stuff all over the place because my old art room is becoming the baby's room so we had to clear it out.  She came over and helped us organize closets and get everything put away!  It looks awesome!  I'm NOT even afraid to open the closet and have stuff fall out on me!! haha... I'm so thankful that she's such an expert organizer.   It probably would have never gotten done.  It's not that I'm too lazy to organize (I don't think...)  It's just that the clutter doesn't really bother me.  I guess that's a bad thing...  :-/    Oh well...   Anyways.. I'm glad that got done.  Little by little the house is getting ready for the baby!   I guess I know what people mean by "nesting."  (Even though I'm not the one cleaning...hehe)  :)

Haha..Pat managed to catch this on camera a couple nights ago.  Stoli always manages to make herself comfortable.  I guess my growing belly is taking up too much of her space under the covers so she's just gonna start taking up my space on the pillow...

12/19/08

I'm FINALLY out for the holiday break!!  I came home around noon today and took a long nap.  It was great!!  I probably could have slept all afternoon.

Stephanie (my sister) is visiting me for a couple days before she goes down to McAllen for Christmas.  It's been really nice having her here since Pat has been studying for finals.  He's finally finished today so maybe he'll stop stressing me out with his complaining about law school finals.

I was really excited to have Steph here today because she painted my toenails for me.  Haha... who thought something so easy would be so hard when you're pregnant??  It's pretty much impossible to bend all the way over or pick up your foot close enough to paint them without feeling like you're squishing your baby!  I wonder what else is gonna become impossible to do??  Tying my shoe isn't a walk in the park either....

12/17/08

No news to report today.  I'm feeling pretty good..tired..but I'm always tired these days.

Only 2 more days till break!!

My mom sent us a bunch of gifts today, both Christmas gifts and baby gifts from people that bought us gifts for the shower that had to be cancelled.  There was some really cute stuff!  My cousin Julie gave us a mini UT baseball uniform onesie.... I think its Pat's favorite baby gift to date!  Haha.. My friend Amy gave us some "Butt Paste"..hahah... I heard it was the best for diaper rash though!  We got some other stuff and it was all awesome.  Now we just need the baby to be born to get to use it all!!  Thanks everyone for the gifts! :)

12/16/08

Ughh... so the nurse called back today and said the doctor wants to go ahead and have me do the 3-hour glucose test.  What a pain!  Next Monday I'll have to use the first real day of my vacation to drink some sugary liquid twice and then have my blood taken like 5 times in three hours.  If the cut-off is 130..shouldn't you only have to take the test if you are OVER 130??

Well the good news is today was my last full day of work for the week!!  Tomorrow we only go until noon and then until 10:30 on Thursday and Friday.

Then 2 weeks of peace...hopefully!

12/15/08

Today was a good day at school (I'm a high school art teacher).  We're wrapping up the semester... we finally get out Friday.  I was just reviewing all day.

I took my one-hour glucose tolerance test last Wednesday.  I called the nurse for my results today and she said the dr was gone for the day but should read my results by tomorrow.  She said their range is 50-130 and mine was at exactly 130 so she's gonna see if the dr wants me to come in for the 3-hour test.  Everything I've read says 140 is the cut-off though... Oh well. I guess I'll just wait and see what the dr says.  That would totally suck to have gestational diabetes...

On another note... it got really cold here in Houston today.  This morning when I left for school it was 67 degrees outside.  By 9am it was getting colder and now at 4pm it is in the mid 40s! It is supposed to freeze tonight.  The weather here is so random.  It snowed last week, and then went into the 6os the next day.  The snow was fun though.  We went out to our front yard and like half of our neighborhood was out.  We took some pictures in the snow and made our Christmas card from one of the pictures.  I'll attach it so you can see the snow.

Ok well that's all for now.

12/14/08

Ok... so I'm new to this blogging thing, but here it goes.  I'm going to try to keep up regular posts of my pregnancy and then post pictures and stories when the baby comes.

I'm now 29 weeks, 2 days pregnant.  Patrick and I are having a baby boy.  He's due on February 27th, 2009, but the past few ultrasounds say he's coming Feb. 25th.  I just hope he's not late!  Pregnancy is hard enough at 30 weeks!  We plan on naming him Collin Brody Daniel.  Yep...3 first names.. just like his daddy.  I guess it comes with the territory when your last name is a first name.

I'm definitely feeling the fatigue of the third trimester.  I think everything else is going OK.  I had to go into labor and delivery a few weeks ago because I was having some minor cramping.  Well, it turns out I was having preterm labor contractions!   Now I'm on stupid travel restrictions.  I'm so bummed out.  I had to miss my big baby shower because I couldn't drive or fly.  They had to cancel it. :(  I also can't believe I can't go home from Christmas because it's a 6 hour drive away.  This will be the first time ever I won't spend Christmas with my family.  But I'll be here with Pat and Stoli (our Boston Terrier), so that will be nice.

We had our 4D ultrasound last Wednesday.  It was really neat to see Collin actually had volume and wasn't just a fuzzy black and white screen.  But he kept covering his face and turning so we couldn't see him very well.  :(  I kind of want to do another one...but then again maybe we'll just wait to see how cute he actually is in person.
